The name Park 54 was inspired by the courageous men of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, one of the first official Black regiments to serve in the Union Army during the Civil War. The regiment was organized in Readville—now part of Boston's Hyde Park—and was made up of free Black men who answered the call to fight for freedom, equality, and justice.
Despite facing discrimination and criticism for fighting in what many called a "white man's war," these brave soldiers risked everything to secure a better future for their families, their community, and generations to come. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to service continue to inspire us every day.
At Park 54 Restaurant & Lounge, our mission is to honor and carry forward the legacy of the 54th Regiment by creating a welcoming space where everyone feels valued, respected, and at home. We are proud to serve as a gathering place where the Hyde Park community and visitors from across Greater Boston can come together to celebrate culture, history, and connection.
Through our signature blend of Southern soul food and authentic Caribbean cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, live entertainment, and warm hospitality, we strive to create more than just a restaurant—we offer an experience. Surrounded by historical artifacts that pay tribute to the 54th Regiment, our guests are invited to enjoy great food, great music, and great company while remembering the extraordinary legacy of the men whose courage made Park 54 possible.
Their story is our inspiration. Their legacy is our foundation. Their spirit lives on in every meal we serve and every guest we welcome.
